Vascular Conditions

  • Vascular conditions refer to abnormalities in the blood vessels, which can affect the skin’s appearance. Small and large vessels can become more visible when they become enlarged or weakened, leading to often bluish or reddish lines on the skin. These conditions can be caused by factors like aging, sun damage and genetics.

Birthmarks, such as port-wine stains and hemangiomas, represent abnormal blood vessels that are present at birth or develop shortly after. Port-wine stains are typically red or purple patches that can appear on the face or body, while hemangiomas are raised, red or purple growths that may enlarge before shrinking over time. While most vascular conditions are harmless, they can cause cosmetic concerns or discomfort, and various treatments, such as laser therapy can help improve their appearance.

  • Treatment options vary depending on the nature and location of the vascular lesion. Multiple treatments are often required to achieve optimal results.

Laser treatments are an effective, non-invasive option to improve the appearance of veins and birthmarks and offer long-term results. VBEAM (Pulsed dye laser) laser is the gold standard treatment option which targets redness, persistent flushing, broken capillaries, birthmarks and more. The laser works by delivering a small burst of yellow light to selectively targeted areas of the skin. That light is then absorbed by blood vessels which create a red appearance in the skin.
